Well, seeing as how there's not a discussion up yet, I guess I'm free to start it. A pretty decent episode. Not exactly filler considering Ash and Dawn's rivals are now able to compete in their respective competitions and that Dawn is working on a new move with Mamoswine and Cyndaquil. You gotta admit, the only thing funnier than Team Rocket being blasted off by Ash and friends is getting blasted off by themselves! LOL!

Hm, don't know whether this was a filler or not. I mean Zoey and Candice appears, Zoey got her 5th Ribbon, and Paul got his 8th Badge, but the rest of the episode didn't really seem anything was pushed along. Oh well, I guess it's always nice to see the different Pokemon Contest appeals and who wouldn't want to watch Team Rocket Blast Off themselves for once, LOL! With that said, here's the episode review:

    Skipping Out On Chances:
    * Glameow? Oh, I guess Ash & co. must be watching Zoey win another Pokemon Contest... oh, they just arrived to it! I guess they got there too late for Dawn to enter... CANDICE!
    * Apparently this wasn't the Pokemon Contest Dawn was planning on entering... but now I must ask why, I mean shouldn't she try entering every Pokemon Contest?
    * Wow, I didn't know Shuckle's legs were that long. Anyway Shuckle uses a Withdraw to protect itself from Glameow, but after the title screen Glameow turns it around and wins Zoey the Ribbon.
    * Candice, you talked right to Ash & co. just before, how can you forget they were there in a few seconds! However Candice does also ask why Dawn wasn't down there.
    * Dawn says she's competing in the DayBreak City Pokemon Contest and also reveals this is Zoey's 5th Ribbon! As Zoey thanks Candice, Dawn brings up a point of why isn't Candice at the Snowpoint Gym?
    * However Candice says challengers rarely come to the Snowpoint Gym (I think they should have shown us a shot of a bunch of trainers in front of the gym waiting for her to come back), but instead we get a scene in front of the Pokemon Contest.
    * So I'm guessing Jessie was also in this Contest? Upon seeing Ash & co. they hid in the bushes and after cheering for Zoey's win Meowth gives a 4th wall breaking observation that Ash & co. wouldn't recognize them even if they tried acting suspicious.

    Figuring What Goes Together:
    * Oh come on Candice, after having spend so much time in a cold place, wouldn't you rather eat something warm instead of cold deserts? Also Dawn's reason for going for the DayBreak is because she wants to try Double Contests again.
    * Ash's tongue suddenly begins burning up as the ice cream is filled with Tamato Berry jelly (which is spicy, so I guess Candice is atleast having some bit of warm/spicy foods).
    * That night Zoey meets up with Ash and Brock but finds Dawn to be outside training with different appeal combos.
    * Next morning Ash finds out that Paul has won his 8th Gym Badge (don't know at what Gym though, it looks like a Rock-type but Paul already has the Coal Badge). Brock, Ash isn't far behind, he just needs one more badge.
    * Outside Dawn brainstorms with everyone a way to use Mamoswine's Ice Shard in an appeal combo. And Candice still refuses to go back to the Snowpoint Gym (seriously, they better at one point show Candice going back to the Gym and seeing a gaint line of trainers waiting!).
    * Dawn tries a combo with Mamoswine and Piplup... but Mamoswine winds up freezing Piplup. As Pikachu frees Piplup, Team Rocket pops back up apparently having slept outside (you know I'm sure you could have slept in the Pokemon Center, you would have just needed to wear your disguises).
    * Candice shows a way to use Ice Shard that won't freeze up the thing in front of it by forming the ice shard and then breaking it apart with another attack.
    * Dawn customises the move by having Mamoswine crush the Ice Shard with its tusks and has Pachirisu (to Piplup's annoyance) use Discharge to make the Ice Shard peices sparkle around it. Dawn then gives the order to destroy rocks but Pachirisu has no idea how and gets hailed upon.
    * Um, Dawn, maybe you should have told Pachirisu HOW to destroy the rocks instead of letting it try find a way itself. Dawn gets ready to give up when Zoey asks for a practice battle which Dawn isn't sure of.

Fire And Ice Is Pretty Nice:
    * While it was brought up of Dawn using Cyndaquil, Dawn remembers about the Ice Cream Tamato Berry (like we didn't suspect what Candice said about it and the look on Dawn's face to appear again and be the solution to Dawn's "combo" problems ) and so accepts Zoey's challenge.
    * The double battle begins with Dawn using Mamoswine and Cyndaquil and Zoey revealing her two new Pokemon: Kirlia and Leafeon, meaning we have now seen all the Eeveelutions in the anime.
    * Dawn tries an Ice Shard/Flame Wheel combo but winds up melting the ice and having it rain upon Cyndaquil which it doesn't quite like. Dawn then visualizes the Tamato Ice Cream and tries again.
    * Dawn, why have Mamoswine first break up the Ice Shard and then reform it? If Cyndaquil was right in front of Mamoswine it could just form the Ice Shard around Cyndaquil and probably cause the same effect. Anyway Dawn calls the move "Flame Ice" (Meh name).
    * Cyndaquil tries attacking but the Ice Shard melts away before it could hit Kirlia and Leafeon (which for some reason wouldn't have been able to jump over if the attacked worked?).
    * Kirlia and Leafeon counter with a Psychic/Magical Leaf and somehow knocks out both Mamoswine and Cyndaquil in one hit (even though Cyndaquil should have been resistent to Magical Leaf being a Grass-type move).
    * Jessie has been aspired from the battle they just saw and tries her own "opposite combo" by having Yanmega use Silver Wind (Bug-type) on Wobbuffet's Mirror Coat (Psychic-type)... only to have Wobbuffet release the attack on them and sending them into a Blast Off as Jessie's Pokemon try to catch up.
    * And with Zoey telling Dawn to keep on practicing, we end the episode.

I believe that was Byron's gym.

The titles seem to be getting dumber. Loved the episode though

The title are great. Unlike 4Kids TPCi actually puts time into them.

Much rather have creative titles than something that blandly plots out the story.

From this episode, its cleary why Zoey won. Go Zoey!

The title in no way, shape, or form points out that Zoey wins their 10 second battle. And how is "Hooked on Onix", "Pasta La Vista", "Gaining Groudon" creative? Anyone could make them. TPCi is the ones that are creative.

    Spoiler Free Zone

How do you call One Team, Two Team, Red Team, Blue Team, If the Scarf Fits, Wear It, or A Trainer and Child Reunion anything but a very horrible attempt at a funny title. A Trainer and Child Reunion. Seriously? Thats the best they came up with?

Plus, the opening song with pictures are so off. Atleast 4Kids managed to have it it nicely where it almost synced with the music but it looks like they just randomly cropped up the animation and sound and you get this bad mess of an opening.

How were any of those titles an attempt at being funny? They don't always have the best ones, but they put more effort into them then 4Kids ever did.

Thats the point. They weren't funny. It was a failed attempt at creative... well, anything.

You said they were failing at being funny and not it's just creative? Make up your mind. Like I said, there are a few clunkers, but overall they are ten times better then 4Kids. Enough with this. It's off-topic.

They failed at being both creative and funny.

Now to have this post pertain something to the topic.

Glad they finally introduced Leafeon and it was probably preditable that she would be the one with it. Nice to see Candice got some moves on her. But all these ice combos are getting old
