As more 5th Generation Stuff is revealed, I will change the Topic to Second Topic, as so forth.

Here is what is said at bulbapedia:

"In the Japanese Trademark Database, some new Nintendo trademarks have been registered. These include Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, of which Generation I have already been released. There are possible new titles: Pokémon Black, Pokémon Brown, Pokémon White, Pokémon Gray, Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Purple, Pokémon Crimson, and Pokémon Scarlet. (For unknown reasons there were two Scarlet trademarks, written a tad bit differently in Japanese). These names seem to reflect a return to primary colors as names."

Maybe some new 5th Gen Pokemon will be revealed as well? Since the other Gen 5 Thread is about predictions, it wouldn't go there.

ps: How is it way to early. I bet you someone else would have done the same. When news like this is revealed, it isn't too early. If I made the Thread lets say a week or more ago, then it would be early but since it is info released from Nintendo, its fine.

There are two reasons which why these trademarks have been made:

    1. These new trademarks are most likely to try and prevent people from creating their own Pokemon Games on the internet by copyrighting the names. Though this most likely isn't the reason (and if it is, it's kind of a futile effort since people will just name their made up versions something else) it also opens up the second reason.
    2. They don't have plans to make any of these games Pokemon games, but it's good to have these games in their picking basket if they do ever decide "Hey, you know what, I can't think of a good name for these new versions" and decide to draw or look through a name or two from the basket to see what they get. Lately though, each generation has their "Legendary Pair" be related to something which the version is named after OR was the version's intended name and was incorperated into their design.

In addition to these new copyrights, other previous known copyrights included Topaz, Amethyst, Whitegold, Tourmaline, and Moonstone.

    Didn't know that.

What do you mean by "OR"?

Well I don't know what exactly goes into the making of the Legendary Mascot Pokemon and deciding the Version Name. Do the Legendary Mascots come first, the Version Names, or are they created aroudn the same time? Here's my thinking:

Gold and Silver's mascots are Ho-Oh and Lugia respectively. Now pretty much the reason why they are the Legendary Mascot of thier version is because of their color scheme. In this case, I think the Legendary Mascot were created first and then the versions were named after it. In addition nothing on Ho-Oh is gold and nothing on Lugai is Silver, further making my point.

The same case is for Ruby and Sapphire's Mascots, Groudon and Kyogre respectively. The games could have been named for the Pokemon coloration as nothing other then color on Groudon is Ruby like and notihng on yogre is Sapphire like.

However, Generation IV could be different. Dialga and Palkia are named and have Diamonds and Pearls on them, respectively. However Dialga and Palkia are suppose to be based on creatures of Time and Space, nothing relating to Diamonds and Pearls. Therefore I believe the Version's names came first and then it was incoperated into Dialga's and Palkia's design (some bit of Dialgan and Palkia coudl have been thought up before, but they were changed into what they are now in order to match their Version's name.
