I understand what you mean... Ho-Oh comes much later in the game in SoulSilver and Lugia in HeartGold, but its understandalbe as to why they would give the respective Pokémon figurines to the respective games since they are their mascots. I guess its not a big deal, really, when you think about. But you know what I never understand? I feel like Lugia is always seen as second rate to Ho-Oh; Ho-Oh has a big story and has a big role, but I feel Lugia is thrown out and left on the side... |
Um... no... that wasn't what I meant.
Basically I'm talking about how, for some odd reason, HeartGold is getting Kougre & Latios while SoulSilver is getting Groudon & Latias. Shouldn't it be the other way around?
The English names for 9 of the Pokeathlon events have been revealed. The only event to not have a name yet is Push Circle:
*sniff* Why was I left out.
(Japanese/English)
Dash Hurdle/Hurdle Dash | Bounce Field/Lamp Jump
Ring Out Fight/Ring Drop | Shooting Snow/Snow Throw
Charge Relay/Relay Run | Break Block/Block Break
Steal Flag/Pennet Grab | Catch Saucer/Disc Catch
Smash Goal/Goal Roll
dash hurdle and and block break didnt need to be changed if they were going to keep the name
lamp jump? ok... >_>
Ring drop? since when is there any dropping in this?
shooting snow sounded better
relay run sounds kinda generic
what's a pennant? (has never heard this word before)
disc catch? generic...
why roll?
VOLTORB FLIP:
Incase no one heard, in the non-Japanese versions of HeartGold & SoulSilver they are going to replace the Slot Machines with a game called "Voltorb Flip". This is because of strict anti-gambling laws being forced by the European Union.
For those who already know this and wondering why I'm mentioning this again, this time I have a screenshot of what it looks like (it's in Korean):
It's a combination between Picross and Minesweeper. From what I heard you don't spend anything to play, you can only either get no coins or more coins. If a get a Voltorb it'll Selfdestruct and you'll lose all the points you have gotten. Bulbapedia has a more detailing page HERE.
ugh goddamn censors! (damn it europe enough with this crap already and now we're doing it too)
ok ok..I can handle this but there is one thing I wont tolerate
If Red and Blue(Green)'s names are ash and gary
SOMEONE WILL DIE.......
That was ten years ago
this is now
You've seen the stupid things they've done over the years.....I'm paranoid...

The reason for the change of Slots in the American Games would be that they would have to change the rating from E to +12. |
Then why didn't the other games get a +12 even though they had the slot machines? Also it's not like parents are going to stop buying the games for their kids since of the +12 rating as that still mean it's a kids game but it has gambling somewhere in it that provides pretty much nothing to the game except if you want to actually "catch em' all" and even then you could just buy coins, battle, buy more coins, battle some more, etc. until you have the coins you need making the gambling even more trivial and not that much to worry about.
SPDShadowRanger wrote: |
It's a recent rating change apparently. |
*sigh* Probably due to the European Union stricter anti-gambling laws. Oh well, I still don't see how going from an E to +12 will change anything though, like I said Pokemon has pretty been established to be kid friendly so parents would still buy it for their kids eitherway. But I don't see why I'm complaining, I never really played the slots at all.

I watched a video of Voltorb Flip from the Korean Version, I really don't care about the game change, but the "Game Corner" is just sad now. These games are going to be strange to play for the first few days. Many of the most used functions are on the touchscreen now. |
GAH! THEY CHANGED THE WHOLE ENTIRE GAME CORNER! They took out all the Slot Machines, people, and Coin purchase counter and replaced it with a room that's pretty much 80% empty except for a table in the middle and two people sitting on the side. But the worst yet is that the 3 people in their look to be Gentlemen. You know, Gentlemen, the OLD MAN Trainer Class! Thye pretty much turned the Game Corner into a bingo hall!
And Voltorb Flip itself... *gag*. Just take a look for youself:

As for everything being used on the touchscreen, well it'll take some getting used to but I think placing the bag on the bottom and having buttons that let you keep the running shoes on, jump onto your bike, and take out your fishing rod is a great idea. Though you are right that it'll probably be strange not needing to hold down "B" anymore wherever you go (but who says you couldn't do it anyway ).

Green's name has been changed to *DUN DUN DUUNNNNNN* Blue, keeping it as it was in the U.S. Gold and Silver. So, yeah. |

Anyway whoever was surprise of this should be hit in the head with a brick (or a bag of melting salt, we got a WHOLE batch of those in the back of my building... we're kind using the bricks we have at the moment...). And I'm pretty sure it's save to save Red will remain Red.
