Pokémon: Season 17 and Mewtwo Special Premiering in January

Season 17, "Pokemon the Series: XY" will premiere on Cartoon Network on Saturday January 18, 2014. The first two episodes will re-air before brand new episode begin airing on February 1st.

Also, "Mewtwo - Prologue to Awakening" will premiere January 11th, followed by a re-airing of the 16th movie, "Genesect and the Legend Awakened". "Mewtwo - Prologue to Awakening" is a half hour special detailing the origins of the Mewtwo seen in the 16th movie and features Eevee trainer Virgil.

And to wrap up the January goodies, the digitally remastered version of Pokemon The First Movie will premiere on Cartoon Network on January 4th.

Yay fans can see what they're missing out on yay

All sarcasm aside seems like a pretty good deal, I wonder why they'll show the first one yes it also has a mewtwo but won't it just be confusing

They've been reairing past Pokemon episodes ever since December 14th. I think reairing the old movie and then the Genesect is supposed to give us a glimpse of both the past and new. And the special should hopefully clear up the Mewtwo confusion for kids.

But there's another reason, the gotta catch em all slogan is back. And based on a new trailer that was released, it appears the XY opening will be a remix of the first season's theme song. Which in a way helps my theory that this is Ash's final saga.

How does a remix help your theory that's this is Ash's last saga?

Because the first theme song being redone brings everything full circle. But I have other reasons. Serena being a serious love interest for Ash, his maturity coming back in spades, and even the BW departure episode gave a strong vibe that Ash was more serious than ever about winning a league. Maybe it won't be his final saga, but he might win and finally get into the Champion League we keep hearing about.

I don't want to argue this because I want it to happen however I can't see them replacing Ash with someone else
