It let you battle it in the Japanese version, so then you could catch it, it was something you could do

That's a bunch of crap.  Good thing I had a Gameshark.  I used a modifier code, and all 251 Pokemon in Crystal version had a two digit code, and when you typed in that code on the modifer, every time you fought a wild Pokemon, the code would kick in.   Sure, call me a cheater.

False! It was available in shiny form and in normal green form when GSC was still new. There was a tour where each week they let you catch a Pokemon shiny. Each week it would change, and the last week was Celebi, shiny or normal, you're pick.

That's very discriminative to those who live in rural areas.  They never go to Memphis or Little Rock, and I'm not driving all the way to California, where over half of these tours usually go.  Or Texas.  They seem to go there a lot.

You can get it on Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald, and you just get it there through some machine, but you have to have a DS

The machine I used was the Gameshark. But how did you legitimately catch it on the Hoenn games? An E-Reader ticket like Jirachi and Deoxys?

No, at the tour events, I think you just plug your DS into a machine with an open spot in your party, and it gives it to you

No. I was there and I have a Celebi. All you have to do is take your Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, FireRed, or LeafGreen with a GBA or GBASP and have an open slot in your party. They hook it up with a link cable and download Celebi to your party. It is at Level 70 and is very strong. It also does NOT work with a DS since it doesn't have the correct link cable slot.
