For awhile now Serebii has been hinting that a new Pokemon game was in the works and would be revealed next month in CoroCoro. However a new Pokemon has just been revealed by Dengeki Online. This game is not part of the main series games or any of the current side games (Pokemon Ranger, Mystery Dungeon, etc.). In fact, it's not placed in the Pokemon World! That's right, this new Pokemon game is a crossover with another series *cricket*... that's not part of Nintendo *GASP*! And no, it's not a crossover with Digimon, no matter how much fans of both series would like to see their favorite series beat the snot out of the other. No, the series which Pokemon is crossovering with is... Nobunaga's Ambition... I have never heard of this series before... TO WIKIPEDIA!

Okay, Nobunaga's Ambition is a turn based strategy game where you're a warlord taking over Japan. There's a batch of games in the series though I have never played it myself. But still, Pokemon is crossvering with it meaning now you're going to be a warlord using Pokemon to take over Japan (pfft, just Japan? I remember at the top of the Pokemon hype that Pokemon pretty much took over the world ). Anyway here's a promo shot that may or may not be turned into the cover:

(Wow... you know, even though they're just using the Pokemon and not any human characters from Pokemon, the art style STILL clashes!)

Anyway if you're curious about the people here:

Nobunaga is the main warlord who has Zekrom as his partner.
Oichi is a character who helps you in the game, paired with Jigglypuff.
Mitsuhude is a character teamed with Articuno.
Shingen is a character teamed with Groudon.
Kenshin is a character teamed with Mewtwo.
And your character (there is a male and female choice) will have an Eevee.

I has nothing more to add except this VIDEO which shows gameplay and also go to Serebii for more info and screenshots. Oh, and it's for the Nintendo DS meaning I don't have to upgrade to the 3DS just yet.

It's certainly...a different concept. I'll probably wait for the game to come out to see how it fares. Though I was hoping for Gray or a new addition to one of the side games.

I was hoping for the third Gen V game or a Ruby and Sapphire remake myself, though then again I think it's too early for any for those.

Mm, yeah. Hopefully those will come out soon as it's been a while since Ruby and Sapphire came out.

Well, this definitely came out of left field. It seems like it could be an interesting game (I've never played Nobunaga's Ambition, so I'm not getting hyped just yet), although I would have much preferred a 5th gen Mystery Dungeon game. W/e though, I'll look forward to seeing more information about the game come out.

    It's...different to say the least.

I always thought Pokemon would take over Japan, and now we can actually do it in a game!

    And even more info:

    BATTLING:
    * As you might have guessed, this game has a different battling style then the main series where it's a tactical RPG meaning one very important thing to keep in mind is the position a Pokemon is on the map. However some mechanics are kept over such as it's turn-based battling and type advantage.
    * To win a battle you need to complete a "Victory Condition" which could be things as defeating all the opponent's Pokemon or collecting flags.
    * Playing through the game you'll befriend Pokemon and Warriors alike. Each Warrior can only use one Pokemon however you can have up to 6 Warriors helping you in a battle.

Um, does anyone else notice two Warriors are sharing the same profile pic?

    * Every turn you get the choice to move however how far their range is varies from Pokemon to Pokemon. Pokemon that can fly are given the benefit of jumping certain gaps and obstacles. Pro tip: Don't move your Pokemon into the attacking range of the opponent, we don't exactly know if you can attack on the same turn you moved so until we know it's better to force your opponent to get closer to you rather then going to them and getting attacked.

    Jigglypuff: Partner or obstacle?

    * If an opposing Pokemon is in attack range you can attack them with various moves. All type combinations are in the game so weaknesses, resistances, and immunities are in effect. Much like with movement, a Pokemon's attack range differs from Pokemon to Pokemon, with some being only able to attack straight forward or can attack adjacent to it (it might also be possible that if Pokemon have more then one move then each move might have it's own range).

Charmander be teaching Snivy who's the true fan favorite Pokemon is.

    * When you defeat an opponent they'll drop and item you can pick up and equip to your Warriors so that they can use it on their Pokemon during the battle. Items have various effects such as increasing stats or healing.

Timburr learns the hard way why you shouldn't fall asleep when Jigglypuff is singing.

    * Each Warrior has a "Bushou Power" which has various effects like increasing their Pokemon's movement range or healing their Pokemon.

Well at least the "trainer" is actually helping their Pokemon battle instead of just yelling orders at it.

    Ranse Region:
    * The region's name is "Ranse" which is split up into various nations. Naturally, as a warlord, your goal is to conquer all these nations as well as build up your army and strengthen your Pokemon.
    * When you start the game you have access to only one nation with a neighboring nation for you to explore, find information about the enemy, and communicate with the leaders. Once each of your Warriors have made a move it's the opponent's turn to see what they'll do.

It says "You are here"... How do they know?!?!

    * Once you got a new nation you can explore it and "Scout" new Pokemon and Warriors to join with you. To get new Pokemon you have to find lone wild Pokemon and battle with them until a "Link" prompt appears which has you press various buttons and if successful they join you. To get a new Warrior you'll find them scattered around and they'll ask you to do a task for them to prove yourself (what, taking over your nation isn't proof enough?).

There's a lot of action going on for just pushing buttons.

    * Within the nation there you'll find various non-Warrior characters which will help you by selling and trading items with you. There is also a character who will sell "Ponigiri" (yeah, expect that to get a name change if this is released in the U.S.) which increases your Pokemon's strength.

Ponigiri, Vitamins, Steroids, what's the difference?

    * On the Ranse Region map you'll see each nation has a flag next to it in two different colors: Red and Blue. Nations with blue flags are under your control, nations with red flags are not. Now let me remind you you're a warlord, you figure out what to do next. That's right, you want to conquer red flag nations and turn them into blue flag nations. Each nation will have its own Leader you need to defeat in order to capture it and be able to explore it. This might be a bit of a challenge though if you have multiple nations under your control you can call in for additional help. But beware, enemy nations can attack one of your nations and try to take them over so you must always be on guard!

They'll won't know what hit them, especially since two nation's "attack lines" are hidden by the action commands.

And aside from dozens of screenshots which Serebii has posted HERE that's all CoroCoro revealed. Though they did include sneak peaks of several Leaders they'll go more in-depth about next month:

Maeda, Ishida, Kato, Fukushima, and Gracia.

And now let's play two games:
    1. We see Gracia (at least I'm assuming the names are in order) has a Munna, so what do you think the other 4 main Pokemon are?
    2. If this gets translated will these characters keep their Japanese names or get punny names like the Gym Leaders?

Hm, interesting. It looks sorta like the games I'm into at the moment.

And as for the leaders, no clue. I was thinking their clothes would've been more of a hint, but aside from coloring, it's hard to say. I think they'll keep their names if gets released else where.

Hmm, it seems like the battling style of this game is pretty similar to that of the Mystery Dungeon games (the option to take a step or make a move in one turn, and the different ranges of moves). Makes me doubt even more that a 5th Gen Mystery Dungeon game will be released. I guess Game Freak is just focusing on new types of Pokemon games now...

Either way though, my interest in this game is growing. I'll probably get it when (if) it's released in the U.S.

New trailer which features a nice chunk of gameplay and it looks to be filled with action and excitement! Also we get to see more of the warriors, the Pokemon they have, confirmation that Pokemon can evolve in the game (so once again we come to the tall question of what is your favorite Eeveelution?), and that the game comes with a Shiny Rayquaza... card (apparently the titled Nobunaga owns a Shiny Rayquaza). To see the trailer for yourself click HERE.

Huh? What's that? You don't know what type it is? Oh, you guys don't know, do you? With the recent TCG set in Japan they FINALLY added a new type to the TCG: Dragon-type! Its color is gold and symbol looks like this:

No. They can't change the names of these characters.

These aren't some made up characters for the games. They're all real people.

Some more info but not a lot as Keldeo took much of the Pokemon attention. Basically it's just more Bushous and their Pokemon, though there is something else involving downloadable WiFi episode! Being there isn't a lot of info, I'll just link you to Serebii's pages on the subjects:

    Bushous

    WiFi Episodes

Nothing else I have to say, it's nice they'll be having downloadable episodes. Hm, I wonder if this means that the game might has special Pokemon you can send over to the main series game like with Pokemon Ranger...

Finally some localization information... sorta! The Nintendo Direct Conference in Europe has announced that, in regards to Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition, "European plans are to be confirmed". While it's not a guarantee that Pokemon + Nobunaga's Ambition might be getting released out of Japan, Nintendo at least is thinking about it. Hopefully they'll come to the conclusion that being this is a bit of an experimental game it might want to take the risk of releasing it global to see how fans react to Pokemon's first attempt of crossovering with a franchise outside of Nintendo... that or realize that because it has Pokemon it's a guaranteed to sell a few million copies, either way works as long as the game gets released outside of Japan.

According to Famitsu, the game got a score of 34/40 and was praised for its high replay value.

    That's not too bad, right?

No, not bad at all, that's actually a pretty good score (if this helps, on a scale of 100 it's an 85. In letter grade terms about a "B", maybe even a "B+".
