The official site has updated with a larger map of Johto. It shows a new area west of Cianwood City and a huge new building west of the Goldenrod Radio Tower.

    New Johto Map

Serebii has also updated the picture gallery with some new pics:

It's hard to make out the building near the Goldenrod Radio Tower, and as for that area near Cianwood, Pal Park anyone?

What has me interested are the last two pictures of Ho-Oh flying near Tin Tower and Lugia inside a huge wave (probably in the Whirl Islands). Looks like Pokemon had decided to try even more complex 3D cutscenes which I think is great.

Oh, and I think that huge building west of the Goldenrod Radio Tower IS the Radio Tower. And yay, that sectioned area in Cianwood City does look to be some sort of Pal Park location.

just realized kanto is the only region thats been remade for every pokemon handheld system: gameboy, gameby advance and gameboy ds (thats what i call it) GO KANTO!! they should make a pokemon colosseum like game version of it to just to complete the cycle

cant wait to see the ds version of kanto

Actually, Kanto has had a remade since every Generation:

Generation I - Gameboy - Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow took place in Kanto.
Generation II - Gameboy Color - Gold, Silver, and Crystal had Kanto as an accessible region to explore after the main storyline.
Generation III - Gameboy Advance (& SP) - FiredRed and LeafGreen were remakes of the Generation I games which took place in Kanto.
Generation IV - Nintendo DS Lite (& DSi) - HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of the Generation II games which had Kanto as an accessible region to explore after the main storyline.

Makes you wonder if they plan on breaking this chain for Generation V or they have something up their sleeves (maybe an 3D game)?

lol u basically just repeated everything i said but with more detail. i think it would be awesome they did a 3d version that would be epic it would be nice to catch pokemon in a way other than poke block -_-

Well my brother shall definitely love this game. Considering how he likes to make his character Ash, he can just have Pikachu follow him along all the time now lol.

Actually it's not really sprites anymore, only sprites we now see are in-battle.

I don't think they have a specific name beside 3D model. If we were allowed to customize out characters I guess we could call them Avatars, but we can't so we won't.

Now going to Cianwood City doesn't seem like a chore. The city had nothing (minus the gym) last time and now there is more to do here. Looks like Lake of Rage changed a little. Looks like more water there.

I just thought of something. The empty plot of dirt in Vermillon City. Who wants to guess what will become of it in HG/SS?

Mabye some type of Trade station?

More detailed info has been revealed regarding the Notched Ear Pichu and Arceus events for HeartGold and SoulSilver.

The Notched Ear Pichu will be at Level 30, knowing the moves Volt Tackle, Helping Hand, Swagger, and Pain Split.

As for the Arceus Event, you'll be given access to a new area called Shinto Ruins if you take Arceus to the Ruins of Alph. There you'll meet Cynthia and "decide the Dragon you wish to create". Arceus will then get swarmed by a bunch of Unown.

Lol, having Arceus follow you around is kinda weird... But cool at the same time.

Ah, so the Notched-Ear Pichu does have its own battle sprite (as well as an overworld sprite as we saw before. Hm, I'm going to then guess this Pichu is either not able to be traded to Diamond/Pearl/Platinum or it'll revert to the normal Pichu sprite (but will revert back being traded back to HeartGold and SoulSilver... maybe (if the latter is the option they chose for the tradeability for the Notched-Ear Pichu)).

As for the Arceus event, sounds pretty cool and finally we'll get to see the Unown actually swarm like they do in the anime. However, according to Bulbapedia Arceus creates an Egg which will hatch into a Dialga/Palkia/Arceus (which kind of explains why they'll be at level one). Hm, I'm going to guess that Arceus combines his power with the Unown's reality bending ability to create the new Dialge/Palkia/Giratina egg so than afterwords it wouldn't have to fall asleep like it did when it created the original Dialga, Palkia, and the Lake Trio (still not sure if it created Giratina though). Looking at the last screenshot, the "portal" to the left is probably Dialga's being blue and it looks like Dialga's chest crest (which contains his Diamond jewel), the one to the right is probably Palkia's being pink and looks like its shoulder (where its pearl jewel is), and the upper one probably belongs to Giratine being the other two I already said belonged to Dialga and Palkia and also becasue I can't tell what it might resemble due to Gold standing on it.

Hey, wouldn't it be funny that after creating the egg, the original Dialga/Palkia/Giratina appears and starts a battle with you (however you'll be disabled from catching it). That'll be pretty funny and cool.

{Sigh}... & I thought Platinum Version was going to be the end for me... These remakes look TOO good to pass up, seeing as I didn't even complete my Crystal Version. Gah...

Game Freak really out did themselves this time with the G/S remake. With the exception of Soul, this game does not disappoint.

No one likes her! But I will be starting as the Male, so I don't really care.
